We are over the moon to share with you what we’ve been working on all Summer: six short storytelling films inspired by the Tudor pattern book MS. Ashmole 1504 in collaboration with the Bodleian Library, Ornamental Embroidery and Nicola Jarvis Studio!
The manuscript features beautifully illustrated flora and fauna and is rather unusual for its time. Many believe it was created and used as a pattern book for everything from wallpaper, embroidery and drawing to games! We’ve scoured the manuscript for our favourite characters, settings and props and come up with three original tales, developed using our unique improvised storytelling techniques. We’re also written three short etymological stories. All six films are being displayed at the Bodleian Library alongside contemporary embroideries by the tutors and students of Ornamental Embroidery.
The display can be found at the Weston Library (Bodleian Library), Broad Street and Proscolium, Bodleian Old Library, Catte Street, Oxford from 20th November 2021 to 30 January 2022.
