The Frogs and Mice are Back for EdFringe 2026

Did you hear that? Was that a squeak? Was that a…mouse?

Did you see that? The corner of your eye – did something slip into the water? Was that a…frog?

Yep, that’s right. They’re back!

Sound the war-croak, sharpen every claw, the frogs and mice are going to war!

We are so excited to officially announce the return of our 5-star children’s show The Battle of Frogs and Mice to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2026! Get ready for ponds, puppets and puns aplenty.

Originally told as an introduction to epic poetry for the children of Ancient Greece, jump right into the heart of the battle for the pond through performance storytelling, toy-box puppetry and music. Join us to shape the world of the frogs and mice: you chose the characters, you advise the war councils, you step onto stage when the story calls for new heroes.

Aimed at children 4-11 but enjoyable for all ages, we invite families to see how Classical literature is not distant or difficult. Instead, it’s alive, playful and surprisingly familiar, with themes that still resonate today: pride, friendship, loss and the ways conflicts grow when no one wants to back down.

We’re thrilled to be joined this year by Howard Horner, Nichola Woolley and David Denyer as our ace storytellers and musicians. We’ve also auditioned some incredible new talent for our frog and mouse performers – get ready for announcements soon.

This year the battle will be taking place in partnership with Zoo (could there be a more appropriately named venue?). The Battle of Frogs and Mice will be at Studio at Zoo Southside from 7 – 22 August (not 13) from 14:15.

Tickets are £12 concession, £13 full price, and $42 for a family ticket.

All performances are relaxed, in a wheelchair accessible venue with an easy-read guide and audio introduction available in advance of the performance.
